Groundhog day in Brexit land.

It's beginning to feel like Groundhog Day. Parliament cant agree. The Prime Minister loses a vote. The Prime Minister has to go back to Brussels. They argue but give her an extension. The Prime Minister goes back to Parliament. Parliament cant agree. The Prime Minister loses a vote. The Prime Minister goes back to Brussels. They argue but give her an extension to leave the EU. The Prime Minister goes back to Parliament...…………..

On and on it goes, and on and on go the frustrations of the people of Great Britain. Personally I don't blame Theresa May. My own opinion is that I think she's doing her best fighting against a riot of MP's determined to stop anything and any deal she may have brokered. There are some MPs that seem to me to be determined to say no to absolutely any deal she may come up with the EU, no matter what. It's my perception, but one I think a lot of people feel. These MPs never wanted Britain the leave the EU, and are using their personal preference to fight their Prime Minister. It appalls me, and makes me very angry. Whether you voted to leave or stay, how ever small a margin, the democratic vote was for Britain to leave. The process of doing just that seems to be fraught with arguments and hysteria.

Parliament has become a right rabble of dissent. They have always shouted and booed and cheered and jeered, but now it seems like they can't be civil to each other, even in jest. The sniping and moaning and grumbling and down right rudeness of some of those MPs have made me totally reconsider how I will vote in our local elections, and the next General Election. I have been looking at the Independent councillors and they seem to be the only people I can vote for apart from maybe the Green Party! I am definitely not voting Tory or Labour, even though our particular MPs in our town, and the surrounding area, have fought to process the will of the small majority. I say 'small' with my tongue in my cheek because it doesn't matter how small the winner wins by, they still win, and thus no matter how small a majority a vote gets it is still a majority. To say that people didn't understand what they were voting for is a nasty snipe at the intelligence of that majority, and rudeness beyond belief. The passion of people is wonderful to see but respect should be paramount.

So today we are at a very interesting impasse yet again. Brexit can be delayed until the 31st October 2019. The French PM is not a happy man, and is getting all fluffed up and indignant in his arguments. The German Chancellor appears to be softening, but has apparently lost her strength to veto the French. The rest of the EU countries seem to be silent and just going with the flow.

The worst bit about all this is that our country may now have to elect Euro MPs if we don't come to an agreement before around the 23rd May. The EU are scared that any British Euro MPs will cause a problem and a rumpus in the EU Parliament, so they are trying to get a ruling that our Euro MPs will have limited powers. This will mean that we will basically have these MPs standing, almost in name only, at a great financial cost to the tax payer. It is a travesty and a complete farce, and I blame the majority of our MPs.

I wish they would put their own personal differences aside and pull together for the sake of democracy. I think MPs will be shocked at the difference all this argument will make to people's perception of Parliament when the next election happens. There is talk of a new Brexit Party coming in to fruition, and I think we will also see the shape of tis country change. The passions of the people are rightly heightened when this sort of thing happens and this is no bad thing, but it must be tempered with understanding of other people's views, and their rights to hold those views. I feel like posting one of those 'calm down' posters. Calm down. It's only Brexit!
