Perfume...and why I am a twit!

Whatever you do, do NOT spray perfume under your arms after you have shaved them!

I'll get to why I do it in a minute. Yes, I almost went through the roof! What a stupid thing to do. I mean, you just know not to do it...and yet I did it! Derrrr. Think about any man you have seen splashing aftershave on his chin after he has shaved, and you will get the idea of my reaction! The worst thing is that I did it under one arm, and even though it hurt I then went and did it under the other arm! I am truly a twit!

So why do I spray perfume under my arms anyway? I wash daily. I use antiperspirant daily, if not twice a day. I smell okay 😊. Well actually it's something I've always done. You see I love perfume, and I do know that body heat will help the perfume fragrance to become more intense. I work pretty hard, and get quite warm sometimes, and not just because I am 'a woman of a certain age'! The warmth of my body makes the perfume smell even more intense. I actually also spray a bit in my hair, and on my pulse points.

Perfume is my little luxury and I have a couple of favourites that I wear all the time. I have one for work, which is my daily perfume, called Far Away from Avon. I get a lot of comments about this perfume, from men and women, all saying how nice it is, and I know it is Avon's biggest seller. It's not even expensive either which is why I use it daily. It matters more to me that women compliment me than men, for some reason. I think it's a unity thing. Women are more critical of other women, and so a compliment is rather empowering. I've also asked women about their perfume if I liked it, and that's how I got my other daily 'weekend' perfume, Ghost. My work colleague was wearing it, and it smelt lovely, so I checked it out at a perfume counter and ended up buying it. Perfume doesn't smell the same on everyone so you really do have to try it on your own body first. I also have a couple of other 'special going out' perfumes. As I've said, it's my luxury. (along with hairspray and mascara......all important to me!)

So where, on your body, should you spray perfume to help it last? Well the usual places are on the inside of your wrists, behind your ears and in the crook of your neck, but I tend to spray it lightly pretty much everywhere on me. If I can smell it on myself then I've gone to far overboard though! One of my lovely work colleague's came in last week, and he uses a fabulous fragrance. The problem was he had obviously just used it on himself, and when he was in our dining room I could almost taste the fragrance! It was a little too much, albeit very nice, just not when I was trying to eat my lunch unfortunately. I have read somewhere that you should spray your perfume in to the air just in front of you, and then walk in to it so you are covered in the fragrance. I've done that too. Just don't do it with your mouth open (yes, okay, I've done it!), or you will taste the perfume and that is extremely yukky I promise you!!

So there you have it. My masterclass on how to wear your perfume! People do appreciate a lovely smell, but just don't overdo it! If you see people edging away from you then you've probably got too much of your smelly stuff on. Too much is just as bad as not using antiperspirant when you are sweating badly. I promise you.
